S.A.L.S.A. Club
S.A.L.S.A. Club
Student Association of Latino and Spanish Awareness
Purpose:
The Citadel Student Association of Latin and Spanish Awareness Club (S.A.L.S.A.) is not just a place for Spanish speaking students to get together, eat, talk Spanish, listen to music, hang out, get to know each other and create lifetime friendships based on our mutual cultural kindred.
It is that and so much more!
The S.A.L.S.A. Club is a group of people that meet to create a place for us and for our friends, including those that may not speak Spanish, may not have, necessarily, Latino or Hispanic heritage, but whose feet tap to the rhythm of “Gasolina” or “Despacito,” who get a little stomach flip at Taco Tuesdays and who have an interest in getting to know our romantic language and exotic culture. If you fit into any of the above, then this club is for you.

Meetings:
We meet every other Friday at 12:00. We have boxed lunches most of the times, but sometimes we surprise everybody and have freshly cooked food by some of our Advisors and cadets. In order to attend, we have to request special orders for you, and that has to be done a week in advance. Once you have attended your first meeting, we assume you are coming back (I mean, we ARE pretty awesome, so why wouldn’t you?). So, if you are interested in joining please be sure you send your Name, Company, and CWID to our secretary at dsanche2@citadel.edu.
Activities:
As already mentioned, we do more than just sit around, escape formation (a definite plus), talk Spanish and eat Tacos (or fried plantains, rice and beans, and carne guisada.) We do our best to promote The Citadel, serve the community and have a great time. We do things like community service, go to local festivals, have movie nights, and whatever else our creative minds can come up with.
Join:
We would love to see you come to our meetings, no matter the language you speak, the color of your skin, or the country you are from…just remember, we have to have your name, company, and CWID to put in special orders. ¡Esperamos verlos pronto!
